This performance became one of the main theatrical events to take place in Moscow in 2005. Continual attention was paid to this thesis production both on television and in print. Sergei Zhenovach’s graduating course became the object of discussion and heated debate. Boys depicts one particular narrative line within the novel The Brothers Karamasov. These schoolboys progress from being the merciless tormentors of their peer Ilusha Snegirev to attaining a state of Christian compassion.
