SounDrama Studio is glad to present the second part of its trilogy «Gogol’. Vechera» (Gogol’. Evenings). The action of this series of performances is structured into the seasons of the year and represented by four ‘pictures’, which relate to each other in a mystical common associations, stories of love and relationships. In the end of the year 2009 the audience will have a chance to see all three parts of the cycle, performed during three evenings.
The first part was presented to the public in September 2007, and based on the Gogol’s text “May Night or a Drowned” (“Mayaskaya noch’ ili Utoplennica”) that represented spring in the natures life cycle.
Premiere of September 2008 is the second part that pictures the transition from summer to autumn and illustrates two stories – “Sorochinskaya Yarmarka” (“Sorochin Fair”).
The core of the performance is the same – soundrama, drama, embodied in the sound. It is possible not just to watch the action on stage, but to listen to it. Every part of the cycle is a finished performance in itself, but all parts altogether are the Gogol’s evenings, balancing on the edge between reality and dream. The world inhabited by either people or spirits appears to be absolutely unreal. Is this an amusing fair or a witches’ Sabbath, is this a bright ‘pannochka’ or an illusionary spirit in the sun, is this a wonderful love and possible happiness or the jokes, that the devil self is playing on us?
